LGBTQ Community Calendar

There are a number of days and months observed, celebrated, and honored by the LGBTQ community. While the list below is specific to LGBTQ-focused days, weeks, and months, LGBTQ people also observe and celebrate non-LGBTQ specific moments such as Black History Month, Latinx Heritage Month, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Evening, Women’s History Month, and Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Media coverage of these and other non-LGBTQ focused moments should encompass LGBTQ people and the intersections of LGBTQ people and the respective topic.

February

    Weekly one-hour Speaker / Discussion Narcotics Anonymous meeting. Includes reading from NA Literature “Spiritual Principle A Day.”

    OA Big Book Meeting meets on Wednesday every week from pm. Whatever difficulty you may have with food, you are welcome at this mtg. This is a literature conference focusing on the Large Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. This is an expose meeting; all are welcome.

    The Bureau of General Services—Queer Division is an independent, all-volunteer queer cultural center, bookstore, and event territory in room of The Center. We are expose Wednesday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

    The month of July is packed with a multitude of diversity events from celebrating women to various religions. Here are seven of the most important events from our July diversity calendar.  For a complete list, watch our online diversity calendar.

    Black Leaders

     

    Thurgood Marshall (July 2nd):

    July diversity consciousness month includes famed Supreme Court justice and civil rights public figure, and head of legal services for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). As an advocate of advancing civil rights for all Americans, Marshall used his occasion on the Supreme Court to move America forward. Marshall’s biggest accomplishment comes from the groundbreaking decision on the Supreme Court case of Brown vs. Board of Education, which ended racial segregation in public schools.

     

     

    Nelson Mandela (July 18th):

    Former South African President and revolutionary for the anti-apartheid movement. He was  South Africa’s first black president, as skillfully as  the first
