San antonio ibiza gay bars
Since the 's it has been one of Europe's main summer holiday destinations. Residents have lengthy recognised the popularity of their island with homosexual men and lesbians from around the world.
Why go?
The original home of the Balearic beat, famous for its image - deafening, brash and utterly outrageous. Whilst the straight holiday hoards head for the "lager lout" resort of San Antonio, gay and lesbian visitors prime destination is the Island's capital - Ibiza Town, a quaint old town with plenty of atmosphere and character. Originally starting out as an inexpensive artists location, Ibiza has been an extremely popular Lgbtq+ destination for over twenty years. As time passed, the island has been adopted by gay European trend setters and is becoming more and more attractive with American visitors. It's still relatively unspoiled and an interesting place to spend a week or two. Many visitors go simply to like the archaeological sites and the two museums, others find great pleasure in visiting the studios and ateliers at Santa Eulailia Del Rio. Some may be shocked that I have mentioned those two words in the same sentence let alone debated the notion that those two could co-exist together.
Before I proceed there is one question that we have to answer before we move on What is ‘Gay’, it’s a common theme in all my writings, but I am trying my top not to generalise or lump ‘us’ all into one category. As in any community - the gay one is no exception - there is a vast array of tastes, each one bringing their own flavour to the table. We all have different wants, beliefs, likes, dis-likes etc and that should be remembered. We wouldn’t consider all straight people want the same holidays so why should us folk eh?
Soback to the original point in question Is San Antonio’s renowned West End a viable option for a night out? Skillfully, this is going to sound like a cop-out but Yes and No. Personally I care for the West End as I appreciate it for what it is. Would it win awards for class and style? Maybe not! Though to be reasonable, hats off to all the Stag/Hen/Groups who go the packed hog and get properly dressed up for it. I possess se
As we've said previously, Ibiza generally is very lgbtq+ and LGBTQIA friendly, so you will feel welcome in each bar or restaurant, wherever you are on the island.
But there are also many LGBTQIA bars, mostly concentrated in and around Ibiza Town.
Calle de la Virgen is a small pedestrianised avenue in the old port area and the main meeting point of the LGBTQIA scene on the island. Countless small bars, restaurants, boutiques and kink shops line the cobbled lane lit by fairy lights, while drag queens try to lure you into their establishments and the sound of delighted voices fills the wind. It's so narrow that you can't help but make contact with others. The Catalan name of Calle de la Virgen is Carrer de la Mare de Déu, uncover it here in Google maps.
Another LGBTQIA hub is the nearby Calle Alfonso XIII, a side lane of Calle de la Virgen(Google maps). In the shadow of the town wall you will locate one LGBTQIA bar next to the other. On the large terraces and roof terraces a colourful crowd shows off in their most extravagant finery.
