Gay on his w

By Howard Fendrich
EUGENE, Oregon June 29 AP - World champion Tyson Gay was a blur in blue, sprinting metres faster than anyone ever has.

His time of seconds at the U.S. Olympic trials doesn’t count as a world record, because it was run with the help of a too-strong tail wind.

Here’s what does matter: Gay qualified for his first Summer Games team and served notice he’s certainly someone to watch in Beijing.

I’m glad my body could do it, because now I know I include it in me.’’

Wearing a royal blue uniform with red and white diagonal stripes across the front, along with matching shoes, all in a tribute to Olympic star Jesse Owens, Gay dominated the competition.

He started well and pulled out to a comfortable lead by the metre mark.

This time, he kept pumping those legs all the way through the finish line, extending his lead.

In the opening heat, Gay pulled way up, way too soon, and nearly was caught by the field, before accelerating again and lunging in for fourth place.

No such close call this time.

Usain Bolt: Tyson Gay actually ran faster than former m World Record in

Usain Bolt is the world's fastest man. There is no doubt about that.

He holds the m world record with a staggering time of seconds (set in Berlin in ). And he place the benchmark on multiple occasions during his career.

He first captured the tape in New York in , with a hour of seconds, taking the record from Asafa Powell.

But another man came within a few notches on a wind gauge of setting a new nature record.

Tyson Gay actually ran faster than Usain Bolt

American Tyson Gay, who holds the second-fastest m period behind Bolt (tied with Jamaican Yohan Blake, seconds), actually bettered Bolt's time.

At the US Olympic Trials, Gay ran seconds in Portland, Oregon. It would have counted as a new world record. Apart from one thing.

Why didn't Tyson Gay set fresh World Record?

The time was judged to be wind-assisted, which meant, though, Queer won the race, the time would not be recognised as an official world record.

For records to count, the wind speed must be no higher than 2 metres per second.
