About Seville
Seville, with a population of more than , is the fourth largest city in Spain and the capital of Andalusia. Legend has it that the Greek demigod Heracles founded the municipality by marking the signal at which Julius Caesar would later build Hispalis with six pillars. After the Romans and the Vandals followed the Moors in , and under their rule Seville experienced one of its most glorious periods culturally and economically. However, this ended in with the Reconquista, the recapture by the Christian Spaniards. The times of the peaceful coexistence of different religions and cultures were now a thing of the past.

Seville is a medium-sized or even small city, so don't expect a large gay scene like in Barcelona or Madrid. There are more than a handful of gay hangouts at night, but both the local lgbtq+ population and visitors don't mind joining everyone else at the regular "straight" clubs on most weekends. And you don't really necessitate to look for the most gay-friendly spots -- simply head to the area around Alameda de Hercules, and you'll find a place for you. For a strictly gay environment opt for one of the saunas. Interestingly, the city does contain quite a number of hotels that identify as gay-friendly, which just tells you that this is a discreetly gay destination after all.
